This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been a truly spectacular Science Week at SWOY filled with animal handling workshops, exciting class trips, and collaborative buddy science experiments that brought our whole school community together. The highlight for many was our thrilling boat races where students put their engineering skills to the test in a fantastic display of teamwork and creativity. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Taylor, our science lead, for his incredible work in organising such a fun-filled week for all of our children.

In addition to our scientific adventures, we held our maths parent workshops this week to explore our approach to calculations and the progression between different mathematical methods. We would like to thank all the parents who attended, and we hope you found these sessions useful for understanding how we support your children's learning in the classroom. A special “Thank You” goes to Miss Ogston, our maths lead, for sharing her expertise with our families.

To bring our week to a peaceful close, Year 3 led a wonderful reconciliation service in the church this afternoon. It was a beautiful opportunity for us all to reflect and appreciate our school values through prayer and song. We extend our sincere thanks to Father Habte and the visiting priests for their presence, and for supporting our children as they took part in this important sacrament.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Our Rights Respecting School Article of the Week is...

Article 2 - Non-discrimination

The Convention applies to every child without discrimination.

We have linked this to International Women's Day, which was celebrated on 8th March 2026.

In Assembly we have been thinking about...

Blessings and promises. The children have been thinking about how we can make meaningful Lenten promises and how we can be a blessing to those around us.
