This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to all of you who could join us for our SWOYSA AGM this week. Last year was a really successful year and SWOYSA managed to organise thirteen events! I would like to say a big 'thank you' to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise such successful events for our school community. During the AGM, elections were held for new board members and the successful candidates are listed below - thank you for volunteering!

It feels very early for Christmas, but next week, children will be making Christmas Cards and they will bring these home so you can decide whether you would like to purchase a pack of your child's design. Further information will be sent home next week. We will also be leading Family Mass on Sunday 6th October 2024 at 9.30am - this will be led by Yr5 and Yr6. Please do plan to join us if you can!

This term we have partnered with Great Athletes, who work with Olympians and Paralympians to deliver inspirational sessions and assemblies in schools. We will be hosting Saffron Severn on Tuesday 15th October 2024 and the children will be challenged to complete a sponsored circuit of activities. On Monday, children will bring their sponsorship forms home. Any money raised will go towards buying PE and play equipment.

Last week, I announced the birth of Ms Ogston's baby, and this week, I am delighted to announce that Mrs Lawlor and her husband, Ricardo, have welcomed their beautiful baby boy as well! They are all doing well and we look forward to meeting their new arrival.

Kind regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

congratulations

"I took part in the Superhero Series Triathlon at Dorney Lake on 17 August. Triathlon means you have to swim, then cycle, then run. Around 3,500 people took part. It is a special day for disabled people to enjoy sport, which is too often not truly accessible for them. It was so tough but a brilliant day and I was even on the Channel Four highlights programme crossing the finish line!  I got a medal and I will definitely be doing it again next year!"

SWOYSA

Our Parents’ Association is known as SWOYSA (St William of York School
Association). It aims to organise a range of social events which support families to
develop friendships and build our school community, as well as raise vital funds for our school.

In recent years, SWOYSA has funded the development of the lower playground,
bought reading books to support early reading, paid for Philosophy lessons, Reading Sheds in the playground, our new parent gift packs and is currently making a significant financial contribution to the development of our new library.
Everyone is a member of SWOYSA and we need EVERYONE to volunteer to help run events...but we do have a Committee.
