This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

A huge thank you to SWOYSA for organising such a fantastic Autumn Disco and to everyone who came along to dance, laugh, and make it such a special evening! Your support helps us raise money towards improving our playground. We are hoping to raise money for a sandpit, a large mud kitchen, balance bikes, a refreshed pond area and some much-needed seating areas. We’re really excited to begin developing these spaces this term to make playtimes even more fun and creative for all our children.

Next week is Anti-Bullying Week, and we’ll be kicking things off on Monday 10th November with Odd Socks Day. It’s a chance for everyone to celebrate what makes us unique and to remind ourselves that kindness and respect are what make our school community shine. Just pop on a pair of brightly mismatched socks to join in!

Monday is also Cycle to School Day, and we’re encouraging everyone who can to hop on their bike or scooter. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils will also begin their Bikeability training, learning vital skills to help them ride safely and confidently.

Finally, our Book Fair is now open! Please see the timings below for when you can visit. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore new stories together and every book purchased helps support our school to buy new books.

It is Remembrance Sunday this weekend. We will be doing our 2-minute silence on Tuesday 11am.

If you are able to, please do join us for Family Mass at St William of York Church this Sunday 9th November at 9.30am as our Yr5 & Yr6 children lead the singing.

Warm regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

School Information / Reminders

Congratulations to Florence

Well done Florence! Florence competed at the British Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in Nottingham on Sunday. She performed brilliantly, achieved a fantastic score and won the gold medal in the P32 Para category. Florence is now the national champion! We are all incredibly proud of her!

Cycle to School Day and Bikeability Week

A reminder that Monday 10th November is Cycle to School Day! We’re encouraging everyone who can to ride, scoot or walk to school and start the week in a healthy, eco-friendly way.

It’s also the start of Bikeability training for those in Years 5 and 6 who have signed up. Pupils will be taking part in Level 1 and 2 cycle training, learning important skills to help them ride safely and confidently.

A big thank you to Dr Bike for visiting us this week to service and repair our bikes – your help has ensured we’re all ready to roll!

Appointments will be face to face in school, giving you the chance to meet with Mr Mayers to discuss your child's progress and learning so far this term.

Please use this booking link provided to schedule your appointment. We look forward to seeing you then!

Caterlink Parent Taster Session – Friday 14th November

We’re delighted to invite parents and carers to a Caterlink Taster Session on Friday 14th November. Come along to sample some of the delicious dishes our children enjoy at lunchtime and meet our catering team.

It’s a great opportunity to hear more about how our school meals are prepared, the ingredients used, and the variety of healthy, balanced options on offer each day.

We’d love you to pop in, have a taste, and chat with our friendly Caterlink staff – everyone is welcome!

Our Scholastic Book Fair is now open, and we’re so excited to welcome everyone to come and browse! It’s a wonderful opportunity for children (and families!) to discover new stories, explore favourite authors, and get inspired to read.

Every book purchased helps our school earn free books for the classrooms and library – so your support makes a real difference to our reading community.

Beavers Logo

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.  For fun, friendship and activities that get you thinking as well as doing.

Our parish Scout Group meet on Thursday evenings (term time only) at Lewisham Scouts DHQ on St Germans Road.

We have a few spaces for new members who are turning 6 to join our Beaver Colony.  Check out our website http://www.12thforesthill.scoutsonline.co.uk/  and get on the waiting list now.

Adults - if you have a skill you could share with us, please get in touch.  We all love learning.  Could you be one of our volunteers with Beavers, Cubs or even our new Scout Troop we'd like to re-open in October?  Could you be a group Trustee?  Training and support provided.
