This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair this week. It was wonderful to see so many families visiting and your support helps us to add even more fantastic books to our school library. I would also like to say a big thank you to Ms Webster, our English Lead, for organising the fair.

Well done to all our children for their thoughtful and creative contributions to Anti-Bullying Week. Your kindness, empathy, and teamwork have really shone through and we’re so proud of the positive messages you’ve shared across the school.

We are still looking for donations of: Lego, Small World Play, Dressing Up Clothes, Fabrics and Plastic Boxes with lids. If you have any to donate to school, please send them in next week.

Finally, please take a look at the key dates below for all the exciting Christmas festivities coming up over the next five weeks. It’s going to be a joyful end to a busy term!

Warm regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Congratulations to Ayanna

Ayanna achieved a certificate and medal for swimming 5 Metres unaided during her swimming lesson last week. She showed lots of enjoyment, smiling throughout, and demonstrated energy and determination to reach the other side. We are all very proud of her. Well done Ayanna

Congratulations to Amerie

A massive well done to Amerie, who also did fantastically during her swimming assessment this week. She was awarded a certificate and a badge for swimming so confidently and completing 5 metres unaided! Congratulations Amerie and keep it up!

Our school community came together to mark Remembrance Day. At 11 o’clock, the children and staff paused for a two-minute silence, reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in wars and conflicts around the world.

In class, the children learned about the meaning of Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy as a symbol of hope and peace. Many shared thoughtful reflections about what remembrance means to them and how we can help to build a kinder, more peaceful world.

It was a moving moment of respect and gratitude, as we remembered those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Our Year 5 and 6 students have been taking part in their Bikeability cycle training and it's been great to see them out on the roads in small groups, getting confident with their cycling skills and showing real responsibility. Keep an eye out for them this week - if you see a group of enthusiastic riders, be sure to give them a wave! #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #SElondon #lewisham #bikeability #outdoorlearning #cycling

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.  For fun, friendship and activities that get you thinking as well as doing.

Our parish Scout Group meet on Thursday evenings (term time only) at Lewisham Scouts DHQ on St Germans Road.

We have a few spaces for new members who are turning 6 to join our Beaver Colony.  Check out our website http://www.12thforesthill.scoutsonline.co.uk/  and get on the waiting list now.

Adults - if you have a skill you could share with us, please get in touch.  We all love learning.  Could you be one of our volunteers with Beavers, Cubs or even our new Scout Troop we'd like to re-open in October?  Could you be a group Trustee?  Training and support provided.
