Dear Parents and Carers
It has been a wonderful week at St William of York, with a strong focus on the love of reading. Our Year 1 and Year 3 classes paid a fantastic visit to the library this week, exploring new books and enjoying the community space.
Reading is the foundation of our entire curriculum as it is the key that unlocks learning in all other areas. Fostering both the skill and the passion for reading is one of the most important things we do. To support this journey at home, research recommends reading to your child every night, even when they can read themselves, as this has a huge impact on their development.
We also received a visit from Sam Gower from the Education Commission today, and it was a pleasure to show her around. She saw our fantastic school in action, and the children were, as always, incredible!
If you can, please do join us for our Yr1 & Yr2 Family Mass this weekend on Sunday 1st February at 9.30am at St William of York Church.
Warm regards
Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)
