This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been another busy and productive week at school, and I am delighted to share some of our recent highlights with you.

We welcomed some visitors to the school this week for our Quality of Education Review, which proved to be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the great work and progress our children are making. The visitors were very impressed by everything they saw, and they specifically commented on our children’s exceptional behaviour throughout the review. It was a proud moment for all of us to see our pupils representing the school so well.

You may have noticed that we have had sheds installed in the top and bottom playgrounds this week, which is an exciting part of our OPAL play journey. We are making good progress in developing our playground spaces, though we still have lots to do to reach our final goals. At the moment, we are collecting any donations you may have to help enhance these areas. This week, we are particularly looking for buckets, spades, and fabrics, as these will add to our resources in the sandpit and our den building area. For a complete list of the things we are looking for please click here.

We wish you a lovely bank holiday weekend, and we look forward to seeing you all again next Tuesday.

Warm regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Our reception class have had a very special two weeks, watching tiny eggs hatch into fluffy chicks right before their eyes. The children have loved caring for them, learning about life cycles, and seeing how much they've grown each day. #SWOY #Stwilliamofyork #Catholicprimaryschool #Selondon #Lewisham #Foresthill #SE23 #education #chicks

News and Updates

I would like to remind families that children are NOT allowed to bring a mobile phone to school. If your child requires a phone for safety reasons, such as travelling long distances alone, this must be discussed directly with Mrs Mayers and the appropriate consent forms must be signed. Please note that even in these specific cases, the device cannot be a smartphone under any circumstances. This policy, which you can review on our website, is strictly in line with the Lewisham-wide school approach to keep our children safe.

Congratulations

Last weekend, Paris (Yr4 Guardian) ran the London Marathon for Refuge, a charity very close to her heart. This was her third year running for them and she wore an inflatable costume, as well as a cape that had 110 butterflies on it which represented the women that died in 2025 due to Domestic Violence. If you would like to donate, please follow this link.
