This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

As we reach the final days of the academic year, I have found myself reflecting on the incredible journey we have shared over the past ten months. It has been a wonderful year and I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of SWOY. Our children are absolutely fantastic and it is a true privilege to watch each and every one of them grow, learn, and flourish. They bring so much joy to our corridors every single day.

An academic year like this doesn't just happen; it takes a village. I am beyond grateful for the overwhelming love, dedication, and support I have received this year from our phenomenal staff, the brilliant SWOYSA, our entire parent community and our parish family. Thank you for partnering with us to make SWOY the special place that it is.

Finally, I want to say a huge thank you and goodbye to our lovely Year 6 Class of 2026. You have been an absolute credit to our school from start to finish. You completely blew us away with your exceptional talents during your leavers’ performance of The Lion King! And it was wonderful to see you all letting your hair down and celebrating at your leavers’ disco last night. We are incredibly proud of every single one of you. As you take your next steps into secondary school, remember the values you learned here. We wish you every success for the bright futures ahead of you.

To all our families, thank you for a memorable year. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and wonderful summer break!

Warmest wishes,

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Our Year 6 leavers absolutely blew us away with their performance of The Lion King. We couldn't be prouder of every single one of them. Their singing, dancing and acting were outstanding, and they performed with such confidence, energy and heart. What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of their primary school journey! A huge thank you to Ms Webster for patiently coaching the children through their lines and positions, and for helping with their make-up on the evening, alongside her daughter. Your dedication made such a difference. As always, a massive thank you to Mrs Shanahan for bringing the music to life, helping the children shine in their acting, and for injecting the magic that makes our school so special. Special thanks also to Mr Wilkie for his incredible backdrop and the amazing animal headdresses, Miss Di for creating every one of the children's fantastic costumes, and Miss Barber for all of her help with the props. Your artistic talent, creativity and hard work helped transform the production into something truly spectacular. This production was a perfect example of our wonderful school community coming together to create something unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who played a partand most of all, congratulations to our amazing Year 6 children. We are so proud of you all! #SWOY #Stwilliamofyork #Catholicprimaryschool #Selondon #Lewisham #Foresthill #SE23 #education #lionking

Thank You

I would like to say a special thank you to Bernie and Louise, who have been Chair and Vice Chair of SWOYSA this year. Their children are in Yr6, so they are leaving us but they have worked incredibly hard for our PTA and have spent many years volunteering their time, organising events and raising funds. I am incredibly grateful for all that they have contributed to our school community in the time that their children have been at SWOY. They will both be missed!

I would also like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who attended our SWOYFEST summer fair. It was a lovely afternoon and I would like to extend my thanks to Mr Mayers and Mr Taylor for performing at the event! It was a fantastic performance and it was great to see all of the children and their families enjoying the music together in the sunshine!

Congratulations

Congratulations to Abigail in Yr6 who achieved a black stripe belt in her Jujitsu class this week! What an achievement!
