Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to the new academic year at St William of York. It has been a true joy to see our Year 1 to Year 6 children fill the corridors with their energy and enthusiasm over these first few days back, and we are eagerly looking forward to welcoming our new Nursery and Reception children next week as our school family becomes complete once again.
As we begin this new term, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the new members of our staff team. We are delighted to be joined by Mrs Gifford, our new Nursery class teacher, Miss Seward, who joins us as Year 4 class teacher, Miss Kelly, our Year 3 teaching assistant, and Miss Lowe, our Year 4 teaching assistant. Also, an official welcome to Miss McKenzie, who had been providing cover as Midday Meal Supervisor, but who is now joining us as a Nursery Nurse. I know you will all join me in making them feel wonderfully welcome in our community.
We are also thrilled to share that long-awaited works on our school playground will officially begin on Monday. To allow these developments to take place safely, certain areas of the top playground will be cordoned off for the next four weeks. While this requires a small temporary adjustment to our routine, we are immensely excited to watch our outdoor space transform into the fantastic designs pictured below.
On a personal note, I would like to share some wonderful news with you all this week. Mr Mayers and I are expecting another baby, due in February 2027. We feel so very grateful to be blessed with this addition to our family, and I want to express my sincere heartfelt thanks to everyone who has already shared such kind words of congratulations with us.
We look forward to another vibrant and inspiring year ahead at St William of York, and, as always, thank you for your unwavering partnership, generosity, and support.
Warm regards
Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)
