This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

What a busy and productive week we have had at school! We were joined by some special visitors this week for our Ofsted Inspection and as always our children were absolutely fantastic and represented our school community with pride. We will share the full report with you as soon as we receive it, though please note that the moderation and publication process takes some time so it will be a few weeks before it is published.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to my amazing staff team for their tireless dedication and for continuing to work so hard for our children every single day. Thank you also to all of the parents and carers who took the time to complete the parent survey, as your feedback and support are invaluable to us.

We also have a few important notices and reminders to share with you for the coming weeks. Our foodbank collections will continue until next Wednesday morning, so please bring in any final donations before this date.

As we had to cancel the Parents' Evening appointments that were due to take place on Wednesday 14th October, these have now been moved to Wednesday 4th November. The time slot that you booked previously will remain the same, so please speak to your child's class teacher if you need to make any changes.

Finally, please remember that next Friday 23rd October is an INSET day, which means the school will be closed to all pupils.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Friday Club with Mrs Mayers

This week's Friday Club was... Noah, Roman, Khalif and Esther

Well done to all of you! You have been recognised for being ACE and for consistently going 'over and above'

Our Makaton Sign of the Week for next week is...

Our Rights Respecting School Article of the Week is...

Article 24 - Health, Water, Food, Environment

We have been thinking about World Food Day and how every child deserves the chance to grow, learn and thrive. We have connected this to our Harvest Assembly and our collections for Lewisham Foodbank.

In Assembly we have been learning about...

We have been thinking about our British Values and the importance of these in our community.

The children have been busy making posters for our British Values competition.

These are due in on Monday 19th October.

Question of the Week...

Would you rather have the superpower to turn invisible but only when you clap your hands or the superpower to fly but only as fast as a turtle walks?

A crucial part of our 'Real World Writers' scheme is the editing and redrafting process, which can often be one of the trickiest stages for young authors. To help, we don't just ask the children to read their own work aloudinstead, they take turns reading their partner's work aloud to them! Hearing someone else read their words makes it much easier to catch sneaky missing punctuation and spot where sentences could be polished. It gives our writers a true sense of how their work sounds to a real reader. #SWOY #Stwilliamofyork #Catholicprimaryschool #Selondon #Lewisham #Foresthill #SE23 #education
