This week's letter from Mrs Mayers...

Dear Parents and Carers

This afternoon we had the Welcome Assembly for the new children who have joined our school. It is such a special tradition at St William of York and this year was no exception! The Yr6 children led a very moving assembly and presented a heartfelt welcome to their Reception Buddies.

It was great to see so many of you at the 'Meet the Teacher' event this week. We hope you found the sessions useful and informative. We will be planning further Parent Workshops to focus on specific areas of the curriculum and we will let you know when these dates have been finalised.

We would like to invite Yr 6 parents to a meeting on Friday 27th September at 8.30am regarding Secondary Transfer. There will be a representative from Lewisham Admissions who will talk through the process of applying to secondary schools for September 2025.

Finally, I am delighted to announce that Ms Ogston and her partner, Charlie, recently welcomed their beautiful baby boy, River, into the world. He weighed 7lbs 9oz and they are all doing very well. Congratulations to them both!

Yours sincerely

Hayley Mayers (Headteacher)

Do you have friends who are looking at local schools and nurseries?  Please direct them to our admissions page where they can book a Parent Tours and see for themselves how lovely our school is.

Attendance - new guidelines from DfE

Good school attendance gives your child the opportunity of success and helps develop skills for life. Your child should attend school every day unless there is an unavoidable cause such as illness. Missing school can be damaging to your child’s learning, social development, and life opportunities. Children who miss many days from school fall behind their peers, and struggle to catch up.
