Welcome from the Head Teacher

At St William of York Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, positive and inclusive experience for our children, parents and staff.

We aim for excellence in all that we do and encourage our pupils to achieve their full potential. We work in partnership with parents to celebrate the uniqueness of every child and embrace the individual gifts and talents of all of those in our school community. We are an inclusive school and we welcome families of all faiths, or no faith at all.

A huge well done to our amazing Year 5s for leading this year's Harvest Assembly - you did a brilliant job sharing the true meaning of harvest with confidence and care! We also want to give a special shout-out to Nursery and Reception, who sang beautifully in their very first performance in front of the whole school. You were absolutely fantastic! Thank you for all of your generous harvest donations - they are greatly appreciated. #SWOY #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #lewisham #selondon #harvest

SWOY were back at the Horniman this week - this time Year 3 were exploring skeletons as part of their science topic. They got hands-on with real bones and learned all about how skeletons help us move, grow and stay protected. A fascinating, fun filled trip! #stwilliamofyork #swoy #lewisham #selondon #hornimanmuseum #science

Year 2 stepped back in time to learn about the Great Fire of London! Through drama and costumes, they imagined what it was like to live through the fire. They visited St Paul's Cathedral, learnt amazing facts from their tour guide, and climbed 500 steps to the Whispering Gallery. A truly memorable day! #stwilliamofyorkprimaryschool #lewisham #selondon #stpaulscathedral #greatfireoflondon

We're lucky to live in South East London, with so many incredible places to explore nearby! Year 6 had a fantastic visit to the Horniman Museum, diving into the Ancient Kingdom of Benin. They discovered how some of thr famous bronze artworks were made and even got to handle some amazing replicas. As always, thank you to our parent volunteers, as these trips would not be possible without you! #stwilliamofyork #lewisham #selondon #year6trip #beninkingdon #learningbeyondclassrooms

"There are wonderful benefits of a small school. Everything is more personal. Parents and children are greeted daily and everyone knows everyone’s name. The school is a friendly and caring environment for the children to learn in. Parents feel confident that their children are happy and we feel that we can take concerns to the teacher directly."
