On Monday, our Yr2 class travelled on the train to Blackfriars and had a lovely walk to St Paul's Cathedral. The children have been busy learning about the Great Fire of London in 1666 and were very excited to discover more about their topic in the cathedral. They bravely tackled the 528 steps up to the Golden Gallery and stopped in at the Whispering Gallery on their way up. The views from the galleries were incredible and well worth the effort! The children saw models of what the cathedral looked like before the Great Fire of London and compared it to what it looks like today.

They also visited the Christopher Wren exhibition in the crypt. It is 300 years since the death of Sir Christopher Wren (1632 - 1723), the revolutionary scientist, mathematician and architect, who was responsible for building the St Paul's Cathedral we know and love today. 

The children's behaviour was exceptional on their trip, they were great ambassadors for our school and we are very proud of them!
