Children

The children of St William of York are our best asset!

During their time in our care, they develop and grow to become delightful young people. The friendships and relationships that are formed during their time at school are positive and heart warming.  We are blessed to be able to continue those relationships through continued contact in the parish, and past pupils often return to visit us on work experience.

We have a Buddy system, and on arrival in school at the age of 4/5yrs old, the children are given a Yr 6 'buddy' who builds a special relationship with them in their first year at school. At the end of the year, the Reception class children are passed on to a new buddy in Yr 4 who will look after them until they are ready to take on the role themselves a few years later.

We have high expectations for behaviour, relationships and attitudes to learning. The children rise to the challenge and fulfill all of our expectations. It is common for visitors, and those we meet when we are out on trips and school journeys to comment on the exceptional politeness and good behaviour of the children of St William of York School. We are very proud of them all.
