Yr5 & Yr6 School Journey

An Unforgettable Adventure at PGL Windmill Hill!

This week, our Year 5 and Year 6 children packed their bags and headed off to PGL Windmill Hill for their highly anticipated school journey, and what an absolutely spectacular time they had. From the moment we arrived, the energy was electric. Over the course of the trip, the children threw themselves into an incredible array of heart-pumping outdoor activities. We saw them scaling heights during rock climbing and abseiling, flying through the air on the zipwire, and testing their bravery and balance on the high-flying trapeze. Down on the ground, teamwork was the order of the day. The children collaborated brilliantly to design and test vessels during raft building, which resulted in plenty of splashes along the way, hit the bullseye in archery, and trusted each other implicitly while navigating the mysterious sensory trails. Of course, no PGL trip is complete without the classic evening campfires, where everyone gathered to sing songs, share stories, and reflect on the day's victories. To keep our young adventurers fueled, the center provided plenty of delicious food that kept everyone's energy high from morning until night.

What truly made this trip special, however, was the attitude of the children. They were quite simply fantastic and represented our school beautifully. Residential trips are designed to stretch young minds, and our pupils did exactly that. They repeatedly stepped far outside of their comfort zones, conquered nerves, and showed immense resilience when faced with tough physical and mental challenges. Whether it was encouraging a classmate who was unsure about taking that first step off the abseiling tower, or cheering on a teammate during raft building, their kindness and determination made us incredibly proud. They have returned to school with their heads held high and a newfound confidence in what they can achieve.

An unforgettable trip like this simply cannot happen without a dedicated team behind it. A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing staff team. Taking children away on a residential trip requires immense energy, responsibility, and, above all, giving up their own personal time away from their own families. Our staff worked around the clock to ensure every child felt safe, supported, and cheered on. Thanks to their care and enthusiasm, our Year 5 and Year 6 children have created precious, lifelong memories that they will cherish for years to come. Welcome back, adventurers. Keep an eye on our school website and social media feeds over the next week, where we will be uploading a gallery of photos showcasing our brilliant students in action across all their activities.
