Yr3 Trip to National Poetry Library
Yr3 had a fantastic day out at the National Poetry Library
Our Year 3 pupils had an incredibly inspiring day out this week as they travelled to the world-famous National Poetry Library at the Southbank Centre!
As part of our ongoing focus on reading and creative writing, the children spent the day surrounded by the largest collection of modern poetry in the world. From silly rhymes and beautiful verses to poems shaped like animals, the children discovered that poetry truly has no rules!
During the visit, Year 3 got to explore the fantastic children's section, curling up in the cosy reading corners to dive into poetry books old and new.
The library staff were full of praise for Year 3, noting how wonderfully they listened and how brilliantly they shared their own creative ideas. It was a joy to see our pupils so captivated by the power of words, and many left the library buzzing with ideas for their own poems.
We definitely have some budding authors and poets in our midst! Back in the classroom, we will be using this fantastic experience to inspire our own poetry writing over the coming weeks.
A huge thank you to our parent volunteers who accompanied us on the trip and helped make the day run so smoothly.
Be sure to ask your child about their favourite poem from the trip!
