Rights Respecting SILVER Award

School Community Celebrates Prestigious UNICEF Silver Rights Respecting Award
Our school community is celebrating a significant milestone this week after officially achieving the prestigious UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award. Granted by UNICEF UK, the Rights Respecting Schools Award recognises educational institutions that place the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the core of their ethos, culture, and daily practice. Reaching the Silver "Rights Aware" stage signifies that our school has successfully embedded knowledge of children's rights across our curriculum and whole community, ensuring that respect, equality, and dignity are modelled in every classroom.
For our school, achieving this award is a proud affirmation of our shared values and nurturing environment. It means that our pupils are not only learning about their rights, but are actively exercising them, growing into confident global citizens who advocate for fairness and respect. The accreditation process highlighted the deeply inclusive nature of our school, demonstrating that positive relationships remain firmly at the heart of everything we do.
The highlight of the assessment was undoubtedly the pupils themselves, who articulated our journey towards Silver with remarkable confidence and clarity. The visiting UNICEF ambassador was truly impressed by our children, noting their exceptional ability to explain how rights impact their daily school life, their learning, and their interactions with one another. Their mature, thoughtful insights reflected the genuine, everyday reality of our rights-respecting ethos.
This achievement was made possible through dedicated teamwork across our entire school community. A huge thank you goes to Ms Rolt for her tireless work in coordinating and leading this journey, guiding our staff and pupils every step of the way. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the group of staff and parents who met with our UNICEF accreditor earlier this week, sharing their experiences and demonstrating the united commitment that makes our school community so special.
