Yr2 Trip to St Paul's Cathedral

Year 2 Step Back in Time at St Paul's Cathedral to learn about the Great Fire of London

Our Year 2 pupils enjoyed a memorable and educational visit to St Paul's Cathedral, bringing their ongoing history topic on the Great Fire of London to life.

As part of their learning about the events of 1666, the children have been discovering how the original medieval cathedral was destroyed during the inferno and how Sir Christopher Wren was tasked with designing the magnificent structure that stands today. Seeing the grand landmark in person allowed the pupils to connect their classroom knowledge with real living history.

The absolute highlight of the trip was the journey up into the cathedral's world-famous dome. Taking on the climb with fantastic energy, the children reached the galleries, where they were rewarded with breathtaking, panoramic views across the City of London. From high above the streets, they were able to spot key landmarks and look out towards Pudding Lane, giving them a clear perspective on how the fire once spread across the capital.
