Year 4 pupils had an exciting and educational start to their morning as they took part in a special performance by The Riot Act, a leading Theatre in Education company. The Riot Act is an interactive theatre company that visits primary and secondary schools across the UK to deliver powerful safety messages through live drama, storytelling, and workshops. Rather than traditional lectures, they use engaging performances to help children understand real-world choices, personal safety, and social responsibility.

For our pupils, the show focused on road safety, managing roadside distractions, and making safe decisions. Through an immersive performance, the actors showed Year 4 how everyday hazards, like looking at screens, listening to music, or feeling pressured by peers, can affect their awareness near busy roads and public transport. During the morning session, the children actively took part by discussing the choices made by the characters on stage.

Key lessons included staying alert by recognizing how easy it is to get distracted while walking near roads, understanding peer influence to make smart, independent choices when travelling with friends, and finding safe crossings by recapping the fundamentals of using pedestrian crossings and staying visible. Year 4 represented the school brilliantly, asking thoughtful questions during the post-show discussion.
