Our Year 4 adventurers swapped their school shoes for waders this week as they headed to Deptford Creekside Discovery Centre for a hands-on geography and science expedition they won’t soon forget.

The sun was shining as we arrived at one of the few places in London where you can actually step out onto the riverbed. After a quick safety briefing and the monumental task of squeezing everyone into thigh-high waterproof waders, it was time to take the plunge!

As the tide retreated, the children waded into the water to explore the hidden world of the River Ravensbourne. Guided by the expert team at the centre, our young explorers learned that the creek is a thriving habitat for local wildlife.
