Yr6 Trip to Horniman Museum

Year 6 Explore Ancient Benin at the Horniman Museum 🏺✨
Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to the Horniman Museum this week, where they took part in a fascinating Ancient Benin workshop. The visit brought their history learning to life, allowing the children to explore artefacts, stories, and traditions from the Benin Kingdom in West Africa.
During the workshop, pupils examined real and replica objects, learned about the craftsmanship of Benin bronzes, and discovered what these artefacts reveal about the culture, art, and history of the Benin people. They also had the chance to handle items, ask thoughtful questions, and discuss what they had learned with museum experts.
The children were enthusiastic, curious, and brilliantly behaved throughout the trip — a real credit to our school. It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding of history through hands-on learning and cultural exploration.
A big thank you to the Horniman Museum staff for such an engaging and inspiring day! 🌍👏
