Welcome from the Head Teacher

At St William of York Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, positive and inclusive experience for our children, parents and staff.

We aim for excellence in all that we do and encourage our pupils to achieve their full potential. We work in partnership with parents to celebrate the uniqueness of every child and embrace the individual gifts and talents of all of those in our school community. We are an inclusive school and we welcome families of all faiths, or no faith at all.

Our Year 5 and 6 students have been taking part in their Bikeability cycle training and it's been great to see them out on the roads in small groups, getting confident with their cycling skills and showing real responsibility. Keep an eye out for them this week - if you see a group of enthusiastic riders, be sure to give them a wave! #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #SElondon #lewisham #bikeability #outdoorlearning #cycling

Year 3 have been brilliantly busy exploring their Stone Age topic - this week, inspired by the Bell-Beaker culture and their distinctive pottery style. The children made their own clay pinch-pots, shaping and decorating them to reflect the same patterns and techniques the Beaker people used. The results are fantastic and the children should be very proud. The only thing left to do now is tidy up! #SWOY #Stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #SElondon #lewisham #thestoneage

A great day for our Year 3 scientists. They used colourful plasticine to model the layers of the Earth - the inner core, outer core, mantle and crust - then sliced their creations to explore what's beneath our feet. #SWOY #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #lewisham #SElondon #science #education

What a fantastic day @beckenhamplacepark Our year 6 explorers took on an orienteering challenge with Alex from the Field Studies Council, learning how to use a compass and read 6-point grid references to find their way around the park. As, always, thank you to our parent helpers! #SWOY #stwilliamofyork #catholicprimaryschool #lewisham #selondon #beckenhamplacepark

"There are wonderful benefits of a small school. Everything is more personal. Parents and children are greeted daily and everyone knows everyone’s name. The school is a friendly and caring environment for the children to learn in. Parents feel confident that their children are happy and we feel that we can take concerns to the teacher directly."
